5th Grade Curriculum

Fifth grade is often the last year before students leave elementary school and a time to increase the skills they have acquired. Grade 5 students should read and work independently, supporting their ideas with details like quotes and begin to write more extensively. 5th graders will work with fractions and decimals combined with all the past computations skills they have acquired. Social studies centers on American history, possibly through the 20th century. Science will see students use experiments to support ideas and conclusions and may investigate topics such as Earth, space, electricity, and magnetism.
