3rd Grade Curriculum

Third grade is a critical time at school, acting as a crucial milestone when students shift from learning to read into reading to learn.  Grade 3 students will begin reading longer, or chapter books while writing will now incorporate more grammar, punctuation, and more complex vocabulary.  In Math, 3rd graders will learn multiplication and division and begin to understand math concepts over simple memorization.  Science begins to look more closely at the physical and living world while Social Studies will teach students about citizenship, government, and economic topics. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt invites you to explore the wealth of information about third grade curriculum.
